Title: EE, Systems Engineer
Job Description:
You will be a major contributor on cross-functional development teams that will be creating innovative concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) products. You will be responsible for the detailed understanding of the Electrical needs of our CPV product from the Electrical model of our module (receiver), to defining field wiring architecture and Inverter strategy. You will also be part of the team that defines the specifications for our Tracker control system as well as our overall site control and monitoring scheme.
Responsibilities to include:
- Construct and own the mathematical, circuit, and analytical models for our CPV Modules (Receivers).
- Key contributor on the Systems team, interfacing with the Receiver, Tracker, Field, and Manufacturing teams to provide guidance and support for selecting all power components (AC and DC) and provide input to our control systems specifications.
- Perform power system and engineering studies; provide technical support to field personnel -- may be required to perform occasional supervisory role.
- Perform power system studies including ground fault settings, short circuit, protective device coordination, etc.
- Perform electrical power system documentation including: system configuration, equipment ratings and settings.
- May perform circuit and system measurements and write reports relating to: EMF, electrical load, voltage, and power quality.
Experience and Qualifications (required unless otherwise noted):
- BS (MS preferred) plus 5+ years of experience or equivalent. (EE, Engineering Physics)
- Extensive PV system design experience.
- 2-3 years of experience (minimum) driving/participating in releasing new products into Manufacturing for volume production.
- Demonstrated understanding of power systems and controls theory.
- Demonstrated understanding and experience in electrical engineering analysis.
- Experience with a variety of communication protocols.
